Frances Foster "Fran" Collins, 94, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born May 21, 1919, in Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Rice and Della Ramsey Foster and widow of Walter Dean Collins Sr. Fran loved her Lord and was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. Previously, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg where for many many years, she taught children's Sunday School and led them to make a joyful noise each Sunday. An alumna of Limestone College, Fran had an infectious zest for life and a deep and abiding love for her family and multitude of friends. She cherished her family beach trips, the fun times spent at the lake cabin, and the sisterhood she shared with her bridge mates. She was the eternal optimist, the life of the party, and never met a stranger. Survivors include her children, Catherine Collins Burchfield (James Van), Walter Dean Collins Jr. (Gail Sanders) all of Spartanburg, SC and Randall Finch Collins (Lynn Harris) of Inman, SC; brother, Randall Robert Foster of Winnsboro, SC; grandchildren, Meredith Price (Jake) of Anderson, SC, Harris Collins (Anna) and Ellis Harvey all of Spartanburg, SC, Leah Mantini (Andrew) of Atlanta, GA and Van Burchfield of Nashville, TN; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by siblings, William Thomas Foster, Marvin Lee Foster, Irvin John Foster, Delia Foster Richey and Harold Benjamin Foster and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Murphy Collins. Visitation will be 12:30-1:45 PM Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Morningside Baptist Church Welcome Center. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely and the Rev. Danny Chamblee. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Pallbearers are Scott Foster, Tommy Foster, Wade Crow, Randy Foster, Ben Foster, and Mike Foster. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Morningside Baptist Church, 897 South Pine St., Spartanburg, SC 29302; or Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
