Frances ”Fran” Cooler Davis Clemens, 76, of Spartanburg, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Fran was born on September 13, 1947, in Ridgeland, SC, a daughter to the late Herbert Warren Cooler and Geneva Frances Cooler. She is married to William “Bill” N. Clemens.
Fran was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, and was a graduate of Hardeeville (SC) High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Baptist College of Charleston (now Charleston Southern University). Following graduation, Fran was a fourth-grade teacher at Fishburne Elementary School in Charleston. After getting married, Fran moved to Spartanburg and began a long career of teaching in Spartanburg School District 6 elementary schools. A highlight of her teaching career was being nominated as District 6 “Teacher of the Year”. Even after her official retirement, she continued teaching for several years at Oakbrook Preparatory School. She loved teaching and touched the hearts of many during those years. She also took pride in taking care of her yard at home, always planting lots of flowers each year, and received “Yard of the Month” numerous times over the past 45 years. She was a blessing to many, in many ways.
Fran is predeceased by her husband of 25 years, Herman Martin Davis, Jr; her daughter, Kristen Cudd Prutsman; and her brother, Herbert Cooler.
