Frances Allen

Frances Marie Arnold Allen, 92, of Spartanburg, died Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born May 31, 1919, in Hayesville, NC, she was a daughter of the late James Oliver and Maude Ellen Gregory Arnold. She was first married to the late Lloyd G. Rhoads and later to the late Broadus F. Allen. Mrs. Allen was formerly employed as an LPN at Pinewood Convalescent Center. Survivors include three daughters, Terry Fike of Rochester Hills, MI, Vicki Roper and husband Calvin, Sandra Samuel and husband Paul, and Donna Allen, all of Spartanburg; two sons, Lloyd G. Rhoads and wife Carolyn of Spartanburg, and James Allen of Inman; twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Ware of Inman. She was predeceased by a sister, Faye Taylor. (Due to weather conditions, services will be conducted in Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.) Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Brian P. Harris. Visitation will be at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 9801 Southern Pines Boulevard, Suite I, Charlotte, NC 28273.
