Flossie Schroder

Flossie Nott Schroder, 93, of Spartanburg, SC, the widow of William "Bill" John Schroder, Jr., passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015, at Morningside Assisted Living in Greenwood, SC. Born August 9, 1921, in St. Joseph, MO, she was the daughter of the late Ray Argie Nott and Irene Peterson Nott. Miss Flossie (Grandma, Mama), as she was affectionately known, owned and operated a daycare center in Spartanburg for over 35 years. She was fondly thought of by many of her daycare children years after their care. She was a member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church and the Love Sunday School Class before moving to Greenwood and residing at Morningside Assisted Living. She was also a former volunteer at Boiling Springs Elementary School and enjoyed playing cards and reading. Flossie was twice married. Her first husband, Joseph Jones was killed in World War II. She and Joseph had three children, Ronald F. Jones, Donald R. Jones (deceased), and Jo Ann Jones Brenner. Flossie married William J. Schroder and they had two children, William John Schroder III and Dorothy Schroder Moore. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Ronnie Norris. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
