Florence Davis

Florence Carter Davis, 96 of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, June 9, 2017, at Windsor House West-Spartanburg. Born January 26, 1921, in Clinton, SC, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Preston and Clara Reid Carter. Mrs. Davis was a charter member of St. James United Methodist Church, where she and her son, Bobby, along with Eva Lowe, are the only charter members surviving. She loved her church very much. While she was a homemaker, she was a wonderful, mother, and grandmother to all. Her family loves her very much and will be greatly missed. Survivors include her son, Bobby Quillen of Spartanburg; grandsons, Tony Quillen (Courtney), Mark Quillen (Cindy); great grandchildren, Stephen, Luke, Markie, Philip, Nancy, Caroline, Camille, Vivan and Ben; and a great-great granddaughter, Olivia. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, William Howard Quillen and Henry M. Davis, along with five brothers, David, Joe, Harold, Dean and Colvin; two sisters, Ruth and Ruby. Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 13, 2017 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. J. Wayne Smith.
