Flora Parker

Flora Jane Fowler Parker of Spartanburg, died on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Summit Hills. Born on August 4, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Lynn Albert Fowler, Sr. and Genevieve DeWitt Fowler. She was the widow of John Chastain Parker, Jr. Flora Jane was a graduate of Mercer University. Retired from Jesse Boyd Elementary School, she was beloved by her students. She was a member of Fernwood Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school class treasurer and she enjoyed traveling. She was the devoted mother of three sons, John William Parker (Barbara) of Charlotte, NC, Richard Scott Parker (Melanie) of Columbia, SC, and Brett Fowler Parker (Sarah) of Spartanburg, SC; and the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren, Davis, Raleigh, McKenzie, Reed, Ryan, Mary Fowler, Anderson, and Olivia. She is also survived by a brother, Lynn Albert Fowler, Jr. of Decatur, Alabama and two sisters, Mary Kay Griffin of Albany, GA and Ann Miles of Saint Simons Island, GA. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Fowler. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Fernwood Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Dan Vincent. The family will receive friends after the service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fernwood Baptist Church, 200 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family will be at the home of Sarah and Brett Parker.
