Faye Brown

Faye Sue Foster Brown, 94, of Spartanburg, SC died Monday, September 26, 2022, at White Oak at North Grove. Born August 31, 1928, in Pacolet, SC, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Walker and Nettie Sue Layton Foster and the wife of the late Hugh Burgess Brown.

Mrs. Brown was a 1945 graduate of Pacolet High School and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Winthrop University.  Faye was an elementary teacher for 39 years in Spartanburg County School District.  She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church where upon retirement, she taught English as a secondary language.

Survivors include two sons, Steven Clyde Brown (Nancy Wootten) of Charlotte, NC and Hugh Burt Brown (Dottie Roberge) of Conway, SC; her five grandchildren, Lt. Col. Patrick Steven Brown, USAF (Kathryn Trent) of Stuttgart, Germany, Russell Hugh Brown (Caylene Birnie) of Pineville, NC, Benjamin Carlisle Brown (Sarah Elaine) of Mint Hill, NC, Andrew Burgess Brown (Cassie Powell), and Elizabeth Brown Altman (Jody L.) of Conway, SC; her twelve great grandchildren, Hunter Burgess Brown, Anna Claire McColl Brown, and Maggie Leigh Altman of Conway, SC; Ezekiel Trent Brown, Zipporah Ruth Anne Brown and Gavin Jude Brown of Stuttgart, Germany; Jackson Carlisle Brown, Luthien Elaine Brown, Isabelle Judith Brown and Evangeline Grace Brown of Mint Hill, NC; Winston Hugh Brown and Ethan Craig Brown of Pineville, NC; her sister, Sara Hall of Spartanburg, SC; and sister-in-law, Pat Brown of Pauline, SC. She was predeceased by a sister, Emilie Haskin.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 2:00PM-2:45PM at Morningside Baptist Church, 897 S. Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. A funeral service will be 3:00 PM at the church, conducted by The Rev. Steven Owensby. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
