Faye Ann Brown Havird, 79, of Spartanburg, SC, passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born April 28, 1936, in Roanoke, VA, she was the daughter of the late William E. Brown and Mary Dallas Brown and beloved wife, for over 40 years, of the late Master Sergeant Robert Hadell Havird Sr. After graduating from Spartanburg High School, Faye attended Winthrop College. She began working as a dental assistant in Spartanburg where she met her future husband, Bob, as a patient in her dental chair. She later worked as an office assistant at Powell Knitting Mill and eventually retired from Carolina Rubber Rolls. The joys in her life were her three children, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren whom she always mentored and encouraged. She was an avid reader, was generous and gave unselfishly to those in need, and was a faithful fan of the Atlanta Braves as well as the Carolina Gamecocks. Survivors include her daughters, Anne Havird Stokes, Susan Marie Havird, and son, Robert Hadell Havird Jr.; her grandchildren, Amanda Chapman (Michael Cooper), Pvt. Daniel Havird USMC, and Katie Havird; and her great-grandchildren, Shayla, Dayton, and Kaylee. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Daniel Franklin Brown. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 21, 2015, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. Burial, at a later date, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Faye Havird Memorial Fund, PO Drawer 1530, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
