Faye Gardner

October 20, 1929 — April 8, 2011

Betty Faye Lipscomb Gardner, 81, of Cowpens, died Friday, April 8, 2011, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born October 20, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Oswald S. and Ruby McCullough Lipscomb, and wife of the late Everett Melton "Ditter" Gardner. Mrs. Gardner was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church where she was an active member of Happiness Sunday School Class and the choir. She was an avid swimming instructor who was devoted to her family, friends, and neighbors. Faye attended Limestone College and was a former executive assistant in the textile industry. Survivors include three daughters, Lana Gardner Hoerner and husband Ric of Boiling Springs, Debra Gardner Turner and husband Ezra, and Sandra Gardner Reid and husband Kenny, all of Cowpens; a son, Gregory Melton Gardner of Cowpens; three granddaughters, Dana Lark Williamson and husband Chris of Lake Blalock, Melissa Faye Willis of Cowpens, and Alison Turner Watson and husband Shaun of Inman; a grandson, Steven Gregory Gardner of Cowpens; five great-grandchildren, Courtney, Dawson, and Carson Williamson, and Bailee and Weslee Thomas. She was one of 13 children and is survived by one brother and five sisters. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Mountain View Baptist Church, Cowpens, SC. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM in the church, conducted by the Rev. Steven Griffith. Burial will be in Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Services, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304. The family is at the home.
