Fairy Zimmerman

Fairy O. Zimmerman, 88, of Spartanburg, died Monday, September 3, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born October 2, 1923, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Gus G. and Mary Fowler Grant. Mrs. Zimmerman was retired from Hoechst Fibers and was a member of Springs of Grace Lutheran Church. Surviving is her husband, Lee C. Zimmerman; daughters, Judy O. Fleming (Larry) of Mayo, SC and Joan O. Hendrix (Robert) of Spartanburg; stepdaughter, Ruth Z. Smith (Ralston) of Cocoa, FL; stepson, Henry Zimmerman (Linda) of Boiling Springs, SC; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Gustie Owens of Spartanburg, SC; and brother, Walter Grant of Spartanburg. She was predeceased by her first husband, Everett B. Owens; stepson, Wayne Zimmerman; one granddaughter; two sisters; and a brother. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Thursday, September 6, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Judson F. Merrell. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Springs of Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund, 7420 Highway 9, Inman, SC 29349; or Canaan Baptist Church, 701 Canaan Road, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
