Fulwood Asbury Smith, Sr., 93, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Mary Black Hospital. Born September 27, 1923, in Gray Court, SC, he was the son of the late John Harley and Josie Amanda Kessler Smith. A U. S. Army and Air Force Veteran serving during World War II, Mr. Smith was a retired Pharmacist, owner of Smith's Economy Pharmacy and Co-Founder and Director of Chem-Pro Corporation. He attended Wofford College and Spartanburg Methodist College. He graduated from the University of South Carolina and the University of South Carolina School of Pharmacy. Mr. Smith was a former member of Park Hills Baptist Church for many years where he served as a Deacon and Treasurer. He was a life member of the Downtown Sertoma Club, a 32nd Degree Mason, a former member of the Elks Club, the Optimist Club, the South Carolina and American Pharmaceutical Associations, and was a volunteer with Total Ministries. Mr. Smith was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary June Embler Smith; children, Ann T. Smith Moore (Hugh), Marcus Lynn Smith (Loraine) all of Greenville, SC, Fulwood A. Smith Jr. (Jo Ann) of Matthews, NC; grandsons, David Asbury Moore, Zachary Tyler Smith and Mason Ridgeway Smith all of Greenville, SC; and brother, Milton A. Smith (Susie) of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Horace C. and Dot Smith. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Monday, June 12, 2017, at Morningside Baptist Church. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
