Everett Carr

Charles Everett Carr, 74, of Cowpens, SC, died Thursday, December 4, 2014, at Spartanburg Medical Center after a long illness. Born May 8, 1940, in Clifton, SC, he was the son of the late Charlie Gaston Carr and Ida Mae Adair Carr Suttles and stepson of the late Leroy Hunter Suttles. A 1961 graduate of Cowpens High School, Mr. Carr retired from the SC Department of Highways after 33 years of service. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Sunrise 408 in Cowpens, served on the Town Council of Cowpens, was an avid Chapman sports fan, and a member of Oakdale Baptist Church of Cowpens. Survivors include his beloved wife of 51 years, Betty Staton Carr; one son, Charles Kevin Carr (Susan) of Inman; one daughter, Lori Carr Mabry (Wally) of Spartanburg; three grandchildren, Madison Taylor Carr and Mallory Paige Carr, both of the home, and Jennifer Atkins of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Judy Carr Gilbert (Woodrow) and Debbie Suttles Gilbert (Danny), all of Spartanburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 PM Saturday, December 6, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, December 7, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Joel Gardner, the Rev. Dennis D. Spencer, and the Rev. Bryon Inman. Burial will be in Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens, 175 Cemetery St., Cowpens, SC 29330. Honorary escort will be the staff of Ambustar. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Oakdale Baptist Church, 231 Oak Dale Road, Cowpens, SC 29330. The family wishes to thank the staff of Spartanburg Dialysis for their care and concern. The family will be at the home at 121 Crystal Drive, Cowpens, SC 29330.
