Evelyn Lenz Vieth, 89, of Spartanburg, beloved wife of Walter Richard Vieth, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born May 1, 1920, in West New York, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Florence Clark Lenz. She graduated from Jamaica High School, Long Island, New York. She met her future husband, Walter, when both were at Ottilie Orphanage in Jamaica, Long Island, NY, due to both their parents having died when they were very young. She moved to Spartanburg with her husband and lifetime partner, Walter, when he was stationed at Camp Croft during World War II. She retired from Taylor Colquitt and Southern Wood Piedmont after 43 years of service and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife and mother. Surviving in addition to her husband of 67 years is a son, Richard "Rick" Vieth and his wife Gail of Taylors; a grandson, Jeremy Revis and his wife Randi; a great-grandson, Ethan; a niece, Patricia Semeraro; and a great-niece, Cheryl Marengi. She was predeceased by her sister, Florence O'Dea of Union City, NJ. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. David B. Smith. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
