Evelyn Swain

Evelyn Mae Swain of Columbia, SC, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Palmetto Health Richland, Columbia, SC. Born in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Perrow E. and Ella Martin Swain. A 1951 graduate of the University of South Carolina, she was an administrative assistant at Moncrief Army Hospital at Fort Jackson with over 35 years of service. She was of the Baptist faith. Surviving is her sister, Sarah S. Burnett of Spartanburg and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Harold Swain; and a sister, Martha Spratling. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 19, 2013 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely. The family will receive friends at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
