Evelyn Cabe Shelnut, 92, of Boiling Springs, died Friday, April 12, 2024, at her home. A native of Franklin, NC, she was born on February 20, 1932, a daughter of the late William Milo and Margie Buchanan Cabe and wife of the late Charles Crawford Shelnut.
She was a 1953 graduate of Anderson Nursing School, had worked as a charge nurse at Anderson Memorial Hospital and then at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center with over 25 years of service. She was a member of Southside Baptist church where she was a Sunday School teacher, worked in missions and the nursery Sunday School class and a member of the Shade Tree Musicians.
Surviving are her children, Pamela Ranson, Debbie Martin (Ronnie), Joseph Butler Hilliard, III; grandchildren, Leonard Faye Lueck, Boyce Lee Ranson, IV, Joshua Lee Martin (Autumn), Joseph Butler Hilliard, IV (Brooke), Jared Cabe Hilliard (Victoria): great grandchildren, Madison Kenley Martin, Ivy Jean Hilliard, Lucy Jane Hilliard and Revan Mateo Hilliard. She was predeceased by her son in law, Boyce Lee Ranson, III, siblings, Lois Ashworth Williams, and William Milo Cabe, Jr.
Visitation will be from 11:30 to 12:30 pm Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Floyd’s Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 North, Boiling, SC 29316. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm in the chapel conducted by the Rev. Dr. Schuyler Peterson. Burial will follow in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 316 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29316.
