Evelyn Mason Parton

Evelyn Mason Parton, 83, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, due to cancer. Born on January 10, 1941, in Spartanburg, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Homer Kadell Mason and Florence Collins Mason. 

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Deavon Parton, her brothers Clyde Mason (Barbara) and Arline Mason (Alberta), and several in-laws. 

She is survived by her son Bradford Parton, sister Earline Mason, brother Jack Mason (Faye), several nephews, and a niece. 

She was a graduate of Fairforest High School and a member of Grace Baptist Church of Spartanburg. A homemaker who enjoyed gardening, game shows, and word puzzles, Evelyn lived a peaceful, humble life of service to God, family, and others. 

In addition to contributing to charities, she selflessly tended to the needs of five elderly family members until their death. She embodied her Christian faith daily through her actions, words, and attitude. Even as her own health declined, she continued to serve as a caregiver until the day of her hospitalization. Evelyn leaves a profound void that is unfillable. 

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 pm, on Saturday, January 11, 2025, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Services will be conducted by Chaplain Larry Black.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are suggested. 

Her son would like to extend his appreciation to the staff at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills (Forest City, NC) and Upstate Community Hospice House (Landrum, SC) who provided loving and dignified care in Evelyn's final months.
