Evelyn Burts

Evelyn S. Burts, 92, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at home. Born February 11, 1920, in Cumberland County, NC, she was the widow of Sam N. Burts, Jr., and daughter of the late Henry O. Shell and May Benson Langston and stepfather Lawton P. Langston. Mrs. Burts was a very active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg and was a volunteer at Mary Black Memorial Hospital Gift Shop for 35 years with over 25, 000 hours of volunteer service. Surviving are her daughters, Margie Hurd and Susan Duet; sister, Sadie Brosche; nieces and nephews, Donald Langston Powell, Palmyra Powell, Ashley Powell, Stephanie Barilla, Leo Brosche III, Richard Brosche, David Brosche, Barbara Brosche, James Brosche, Donald Moore, and Ronnie Moore. She was predeceased by her sisters, Peggy Moore and Palmyra Langston Powell. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 880 W.
