Evelyn Brownlee

Evelyn Bevis Brownlee, 83, of Dillon Pointe Retirement Facility, formerly of Lucerne Drive in the Duncan Park community, died Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born June 22, 1928 in Jonesville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Anderson Boyd and Emma Marie Bevis and wife of the late William Rexell "Rex" Brownlee. She was a gifted cook, artist, and caregiver who loved her family. She was a beacon of inspiration to her friends and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Karen B. Glenn and her husband, Dr. Robert E. Glenn of Spartanburg,; two sons, Richard William Brownlee and wife Tonya Bland Brownlee of Spartanburg and Dr. Noel A. Brownlee and wife Dr. Caroline D. Brownlee of Greenville; five grandsons, Dr. Robert C. Glenn of Charleston, William Tyler Brownlee of Spartanburg, Walker Ray Brownlee of Charleston, Luke Noel Brownlee and Benjamin Dillard Brownlee both of Greenville, and a granddaughter, Emily Marie Elizabeth Glenn of Spartanburg. She was predeceased by a brother, James Boyd Bevis. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Dillon Pointe and to the nurses of Mary Black Memorial Hospital for the compassionate care that they provided. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Bethel United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. David Smith, the Rev. David E. Nichols, and the Rev. Dr. Pamela P. Cole. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 245 S. Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. The family is at the home of her daughter, Karen B.
