Etrulia Alewine

Etrulia "Trudy" Groce Alewine, of Inman, SC, died Monday, October 19, 2015, at RoseCrest Retirement Community. Born in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Aaron and Eva Griffin Groce and wife, for 50 years, of the late Laurence Orr Alewine, Jr. Mrs. Alewine was an active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and retired from Reeves Brothers, Inc. after 30 years of service. Survivors include her daughters, Joan Squires Davis of Spartanburg, SC and Sheila Quinn Bradner (Philip) of Tryon, NC; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by 5 sisters and 4 brothers. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 22, 2015, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Rufus Chaneyworth, the Rev. James B. Carter, and Chaplain Scott Squires. Visitation will follow at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 350 North Blackstock Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301; or Arcadia United Methodist Church, 377 Arcadia Street, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
