Ethel Phillips Knight, 88, of Cowpens, died Monday, December 14, 2009, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born March 24, 1921, in Buffalo, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Lois Lee Murray. She was first married to the late Grover C. Phillips and then to the late Robert E. Knight. She was a member of Davis Chapel Wesleyan Church where she was a dedicated longtime nursery worker. Survivors include two daughters, Genelle Camp and husband Boyce, and Christine Phillips, all of Cowpens; a son, Ricky Phillips of Cowpens; four grandsons, Richard Camp and wife Jackie of Spartanburg, Brian Phillips and wife Deanna of Grayson, GA, Christopher Phillips and Joshua Phillips, both of the home; a granddaughter, Robin C. Newson and husband Larry of Chesnee; two great-grandsons, Keith Camp and wife Tiffany of Spartanburg, and Aaron Newson of Chesnee; a great-granddaughter, Nicole Stroud and husband Allen of Inman; a great-great-granddaughter, Adelyn Stroud of Inman; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Carey, Zellon, and Karen Donald of Cowpens. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph Phillips; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Phillips; a sister, Margaret Hammett; and four brothers, George, Ernest, Edward, and Luther "Red" Murray. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Howard Smith. Visitation will follow the service at the Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, P. O. Drawer 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304. The family is at the home of her daughter, Christine Phillips, 119 Kasler Road, Cowpens.
