Ethel Clayton

Ethel Joy Dempsey Clayton, 82, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at her home. Born July 23, 1928, in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late William Broadus and Emma Hart Dempsey. Joy was of the Methodist faith and a homemaker. Survivors include a daughter, Ginny Gilbert and husband Howard of LaGrange, GA; three sons, Les Clayton of Greenville, Todd Clayton and wife Lynne of Spartanburg, and Scott Clayton and wife Pam of Nashville, TN; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, William and David Dempsey. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 14, 2011 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will follow at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, PO Box 4002018, Des Moines, IA 50340-2018 - note in the memo line of your check - "2011 Spring Storm Relief".
