Ethel Burnett

Ethel Marie Stroud Burnett, 92, of Spartanburg, died Monday, July 4, 2011, at Windsor House-Spartanburg. Born October 27, 1918, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Mohan and Kate Ward Stroud, and wife of the late Conley Burnett. Mrs. Burnett was a charter member of Abner Baptist Church and a 27 year employee of Sears & Roebuck, retiring as a division manager. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Sharon Burnett of Spartanburg; five grandchildren, Ashlyn O'Brien of Spartanburg, Jerry R. Burnett, Jr. (Denise) of Campobello, Stephen R. Burnett (Tess) of Auckland, New Zealand, Jonathan R. Burnett of Spartanburg, and Karyn Burnett Moore (William) of Spartanburg; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Jerry R. Burnett; and a sister, Frances Prince. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 6, 2011, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Sal Barone. Visitation will follow at the graveside. Memorials may be made to United Hospice, 102 E. Curtis St., Simpsonville, SC 29681. The family will be at their respective homes.
