Essie Harper

Essie L. Harper, 88, of Spartanburg, SC died Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. Born October 3, 1933 in Fayetteville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Horace Landrum and Ruth Charlotte Waddell Blanton and was the wife of the late Edward F. Harper.

Essie was retired from J.C. Penney Co. after 25 years of service.

Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Blackwell (Ray), Maxine Barker (Randy) and Brenda Harper Schuck (Phil), her son, Edward Harper (Xiang Hu), three grandchildren, Tony Barker, Emerson Harper, and David Neill Harper, two great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, her sister, Peggy Howe (Gene), and her special friend, Susan Cudd. She was predeceased by a brother, James Blanton.

Visitation will be at 10:00 – 10:45 am Monday, July 18, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am, at the chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
