Ernest Creech

June 27, 1923 — December 3, 2017

Ernest R. "Jack" Creech, 94, of Spartanburg, passed away December 3, 2017, peacefully, while under the care of Hospice and his devoted wife, Joan. Jack was born on June 27, 1923 in Greer, SC and was the son of James Abbott and Fronie Mauldin Creech. Jack is survived by Joan Creech, his loving and devoted wife of 64 years. He is also survived by his son, David A. Creech (Maribeth) and his daughter, Ellen Douglas. Jack was the proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, Leigh, Logan and Lauren Creech, and Paige, Bailey, Ben, and Camden Douglas. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and brother. Jack graduated from Porter Military Academy in 1943, then served in the South Pacific during World War II. He graduated from Clemson University in 1951 and had a fulfilling 38 year career with Industrial Risk Insurers in loss prevention for textile plants. Jack was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Spartanburg and a member of the H. F. Chreitzberg Class. He enjoyed the fellowship at the Wednesday night prayer service. Jack was a devoted husband and father who led an honest and truthful life. He was a humble man, never boastful of his accomplishments, instilling in his children a respect for all people, animals, and nature. Jack enjoyed the out-of-doors and travel. Joan and he shared many wonderful memories of their travels together. Jack retained his great sense of humor all of his life. Jack will live on through the indelible mark he left on the many lives that he touched. A graveside service will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 5, 2017 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. David E. Nichols.
