Emily Brittain

Emily Woodfin Brittain, 92, formerly of Chesnee and Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, November 14, 2016, at RoseCrest-Inman. Born September 15, 1924, in Gramling, SC, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Lida Harris Woodfin and widow of William Wister "Bill" Brittain. Mrs. Brittain was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a longtime Red Cross volunteer with Spartanburg Regional Medical Center and founder of the hospital gift shop. Survivors include her son, J. Michael Brittain of Spartanburg, SC; daughter, Kathy B. Wright (Mike) of Spartanburg, SC; grandsons, Sean M. Prestipino of Woodruff, SC and Rainer Brittain of Spartanburg, SC; sister, Mildred W. Riddle of Taylors, SC; and sister-in-law, Faye D. Woodfin of Gramling, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by grandson, Anthony Ryan Prestipino; brother, Dean Woodfin; and sister, Betty W. Pope. A cryptside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 17, 2016, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Mickey Fisher. Visitation will follow at the cryptside. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302 online at www.alz.org. The family expresses gratitude to Sherry Garren and Sabrina Dawkins and the staff at Comfort Keepers and RoseCrest for their love, devotion, and excellent care of Emily.
