Elyjah Wayne Martin

Elyjah Wayne Martin, affectionately known as Lyj, Lyja Bean, Beanie, and Ween, was born on December 6, 2004, in Ridgecrest, California, and he was taken far too soon due to a tragic accident on September 15, 2024, in Boiling Springs, South Carolina. 

Elyjah was a treasured son to his mother, Krysteena Sibley and the best brother to his siblings Destynee, Makiah, and Annahlyse with whom he shared countless memories. He is also survived by his father Matthew Martin, great grandparents, grandparents, awesome aunties, wild uncles, the cutest cousins, and many friends. 

From a young age, Elyjah was an incredibly tenderhearted and caring sweet boy. This was equally matched by his vibrant personality; he was known for being a fun-loving, happy, giving, and respectful hard-working young man. A graduate of Boiling Springs High School, which helped him to develop into a goal-driven young adult, Elyjah further distinguished himself at the Swofford Career Center, earning the "Most Outstanding" award in his class. His commitment to excellence and service led him to a proud career as a Corrections Officer at the Livesay Correctional Center. This was a stepping stone to his dream of becoming a police officer.

His smile left a lasting impression with everyone he met, as no one was ever a stranger. He had always been a fearless, thrill seeking, car loving goober. 

Elyjah's echoes of laughter and the warmth of his spirit will forever linger in the hearts of those who loved him.

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch. While we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, little by little we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget...with the heaviest heart and deepest disbelief that in you are gone it’s the memories so beautiful that we'll hold tight to until we meet again. You’re forever loved our sweet precious boy!

A visitation in honor of Elyjah will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM at Floyds Boiling Springs Chapel, 4767 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, allowing family and friends to gather and reminisce about the moments that cherish his memory. 

In lieu of dark funeral attire and to remember his love for vivid and quirky loud printed clothing, we would love everyone to wear their brightest and equally loud attire.
