Elsie Mae Melton Hines, 84, of 3 Peppermint Street, Spartanburg, died Sunday, July 1, 2012, at her home. Born May 20, 1928 in Arkwright, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Frank and Annie Mae Moore Melton and wife of the late Charles Douglas "Doug" Hines. She was formerly employed with Butte Knit and a member of Arcadia Free Will Baptist Church which is now Westgate Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include daughters, Nancy Mae Wiley and Kathy D. Jennings, both of Spartanburg, Mary Jo Smith of Inman, Trudy D. Christopher of Greenville, and Peggy Sexton of Wellford; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; a sister, Dot Wofford of Spartanburg; and a brother, Grady Melton of Spartanburg. She was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Cudd. Visitation will be 1-1:45 PM Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Rick Millwood. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. The family is at their respective homes.
