Eloise Neuman

Eloise Redd Neuman, 91, of Spartanburg, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Eden Terrace. Born February 18, 1921, in Lima, OH, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Myra Morris Redd and the widow of Dr. Harry M. Neuman. She served on many civic, church and hospital committees in Westerville and Columbus, OH. After moving to Spartanburg in 1992, Mrs. Neuman was a volunteer at Mary Black Hospital and was active in bridge clubs, garden clubs, book clubs and her church circle. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include two sons, Craig Roush of Mesquite, NV and Gregory M. Neuman and wife Kathy of Stamford, CT; a daughter, Nancy N. Hodges and husband Rhesa Purnell "Penny" Hodges of Spartanburg; four grandchildren, Lauren Lemmon of Columbus, OH, Jennifer Neuman of New York City, NY, Brooke Neuman of Stamford, CT and Purnell N. "Reese" Hodges of Montgomery, AL; a brother, Steve Redd of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Greer of Marietta, GA; numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Jo Shaffner and Dorothy Roush, both of Lima, OH. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel in Spartanburg. Visitation will follow the service in the church parlor. The family would like to thank the dedicated management and staff at Eden Terrace and Spartanburg Regional Hospice for the loving care they gave Mrs. Neuman. The family is at the home of her daughter, Nancy Hodges, 1166 Woodburn Road, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
