Elmira Swofford

Elmira Lindsay Swofford, 86, of Spartanburg, SC passed away November 16, 2022, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born March 6, 1936, to the late Frank Houston and Altie Irene Keller Lindsay, she was the wife of the late Howard Bevin Swofford, Jr.

Born and raised in Spartanburg, Elmira graduated from Spartan High and was proud to have spent her life in her hometown. She was a bookkeeper for Security Finance Corporation in Spartanburg for many years. Elmira was a devout Christian and member of Central Church of Christ. She loved her family very much and spent her later years caring for her sister, Freida.

She is survived by her sister, Freida Lindsay Williams, and nephew, Jody Williams (Mendy), both of Spartanburg, SC. Along with her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Patton Cooper, and brother, Donnie Lavoy Lindsay.

A private burial service will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
