Elmer J. C. Poole, 84, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, September 13, 2012. Born August 11, 1928, in Forrest City, NC, he was the son of the late Henry and Ethel Fisher Poole. A U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Poole was retired from Hersey Measurement Company after 18 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. Surviving is his beloved wife of 61 years, Donnie K. Mathis Poole; son, Elmer Jay Poole and wife Julie of Pawleys Island, SC; sister-in-law Gencey Cobb of Boiling Springs, SC; a niece, Sandy Hodges and David Hatchette of Spartanburg, SC; and a nephew, Douglas Cobb and wife Nicole of Greer, SC. He was the last surviving member of his brothers and sisters. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 15, 2012, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Mac Kinnett. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
