Ellsworth Lloyd Smith, 82, of Moore, SC died Monday, April 25, 2022, at RoseCrest Retirement Community. Born April 18, 1940, in Newburgh, NY, he was the son of the late Carl Ellsworth and Amy Hazel Hutting Smith.
A US Army veteran, Lloyd was retired from IBM as a Customer Engineer.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Horton Smith; his daughters, Amanda Smith (David White) of Waco, TX and Cheryl Honaker (Gary) of Lincoln University, PA; grandchildren, Jillian Honaker and Amy Honaker; his stepchildren, Patti Madden (Tim) of Limerick, Ireland, Jackie McMahon (Sean) of Spartanburg, SC, Nancy McDowell (Danny) of Campobello, SC, and Robert McMurtrie of Canon, GA; nine step-grandchildren, 14 step-great grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Carla Decker.
Visitation will be 12:30 – 1:30 pm Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A Funeral service will be 2:00 pm at the chapel, conducted by The Rev. Sal Barone. Entombment with Military Rites will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or online at www.spartanburghumane.org or to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of RoseCrest for all of their love and care shown to Lloyd during his stay there.
