Ellis Carter

Ellis Grady "Buddy" Carter, 92, of Boiling Springs, entered into the presence of the glory of God on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born May 30, 1918 in Baxley, GA, he was the son of the late David Chatman and Lula Mae Sapp Carter and the husband of the late Gladys Knox Carter. He retired from the U. S. Army and attended Northbrook Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Kenneth E. Carter and wife Judy of Boiling Springs; a granddaughter, Margaret Shelley Carter and a grandson, David Jeffrey Carter of Boiling Springs; a brother, P. C. Carter and a sister, Margie Leigh of Baxley, GA; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held 1:00-1:45 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Carrol Caldwell. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 7020 AC Skinner Parkway, Suite 100, Jacksonville, Fl 32256; or to Spartanburg Blue Star Mothers, 319 Beleshere Drive, Inman, SC 29349. The family wishes to express their appreciation to his caregivers, Louise and Susan, for all their love, care, and compassion and to all at the Hospice Home.
