Ellen Petty

Ellen Olivia Petty, 23, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Born June 4, 1993, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of Christopher Blaine Petty of Spartanburg, SC and Robin Johnson Griffith and her husband, Fred of Charlotte, NC. Ellen was the most humble, loving, and caring soul. She loved everyone she met and didn't treat a single person any differently than another. She truly loved ALL! Ellen was a very talented basketball player and shared her talent with all who would play with her or watch. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Spartanburg Day School and attended Converse College and USC-Upstate. Survivors include her maternal grandparents, Roy and Janice Johnson of Moore, SC; paternal grandparents, Carole and Bennie Lawson of Lexington, SC; paternal grandfather, Johnny R. Petty of Spartanburg, SC; sister, Anna Elizabeth Petty of Spartanburg, SC; stepsiblings, Jackson Graham and Georgia Grace Griffith of Charlotte, NC; aunts, Angela Johnson of Murrells Inlet, SC and Tammy Petty of Lexington, SC; and uncle, Roger Petty of Spartanburg, SC; and her beloved nieces, Abby and Emerson and many loving cousins. Also, her step-grandmother, Lyn Griffith and step aunt and uncle, Derek and Cindi Gregory. Visitation will be 12:00 - 1:45 PM Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev Richard Thomas. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
