Ellen Moore

Ellen Thompson Moore, 96, of Washington Road, Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, September 11, 2013. Born March 18, 1917, in Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Gurley and Cora Mae Parker Thompson, and the widow of Cecil R. Moore. A member of White Stone United Methodist Church, former charter member of Routh Memorial Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Moore received the "Woman of the Year" Award. She retired in 1962 from Spartan Undies Division of Jonathan Logan. Surviving are her children, Connor "Buddy" Moore (Jeanette "Jennie") of Spartanburg, Claudette Moore Linder of Taylors, and Carol Moore Smith of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Jeffrey Moore, Mary Beth Craig, and Fredrick Cecil Linder; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by a granddaughter, Paula Smith Toon; and great-granddaughter, Carley Craig. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, September 13, 2013, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Thomas Hill.
