Frances Ellen Alley, 82, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. She was born on March 2, 1939 in Long Beach, CA.
Mrs. Alley worked as a cashier at both Community Cash and Winn-Dixie grocery stores. She was a devoted and loving mother. After meeting her husband, she moved to Spartanburg in 1957. She was involved in her children’s lives as a grade mother and PTA member. She became a member of Morningside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, was involved with the youth, and was a member of the Rebekah Sunday School class.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay Alley Byrnes (John P.), her son, Richard Vernon Alley, all of Spartanburg, SC, granddaughters, Susan J. Byrnes Long (Stephen) of Dallas, TX and Kelly B. Cannon (Steven) of Liberty, SC, great-grandson, William “Will” E. Long of Dallas, TX, great-granddaughter, Alexandria Grace “Alley-Grace” Cannon, and great-grandson, Jackson James Cannon, both of Liberty, SC, her sisters, Jean (Norman) Heyden and Eileen (Don) Stump, both of Central Point, OR and her brother, Stan (Maureen) Magnuson of Olathe, KS and a number of nieces and nephews.. Ellen was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Richard N. Alley; her parents; a sister and two brothers-in-law.
A Graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 18, 2021 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Dr. Steven R. Owensby.
