Ella Darnell

Ella Rhea Gurley Eubanks Darnell, 89, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, July 2, 2016, at her home. Born March 6, 1927 in Rutherfordton, NC, she was the daughter of the late David and Byrd Shehan Gurley. She was the widow of Joe F. Eubanks and J. Etoyl Darnell. Ella Rhea was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a volunteer for Spartanburg Regional Medical Center Hospice since 1991. Survivors include daughters, Rhonda E. Smith (Steven) of Spartanburg, SC; JoRee E. Jones (Martin) of Pawley's Island, SC; son-in-law, Kenny Cox of Spartanburg, SC; granddaughter, Teresa Cox of Spartanburg, SC; grandson, Kevin Smith of Columbia, SC; and great-granddaughter, Maloree Grace McCormick of Spartanburg, SC. She was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra E. "Sandy" Cox; two sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Alice Letmon. Burial will be in West Oakwood Cemetery, Oakwood Ave., Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family will receive friends after the service at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
