Mrs. Ella Howell Brookshire "Grandma", 100, of Boiling Springs, formerly of McDowell St., Spartanburg, died Thursday, August 4, 2011, at Wesley Court Assisted Living after a brief illness. Born August 13, 1910, in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Lillie Green Howell, and widow of Clarence M. Brookshire. "Grandma" was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 75 years and retired from Lowenstein Industries. She is survived by a son, Bill Brookshire and wife Marian of Taylors, SC; a daughter, Brenda Brookshire Nichols and husband Dewey of Inman, SC; grandchildren, Sherry Brookshire Reece and husband Nathan of Taylors, SC, Diane Brookshire Newell and husband Greg of Greenville, SC, Mike Brookshire and wife Celia of Lima, OH, Tracey Nichols Tinsley and husband Rusty of Boiling Springs, SC, and Kristen Nichols Williams and husband Christian of Raleigh, NC; great-grandchildren, Brad Reece of Taylors, SC, Graves Newell of Greenville, SC, Emma Newell of Greenville, SC, Ashtyn Tinsley Guest and husband Christopher of Spartanburg, SC, Ellason Tinsley of Boiling Springs, SC, Sydney Brookshire of Lima, OH, Erica King and husband Curt of Jackson, TN, Thommy Reilly of Jackson, TN, Katy Jo Reilly of Lima, OH, Conner Williams and Kara Williams, both of Raleigh, NC; great-great-grandchildren, Sophie and Liza Brooke King of Jackson, TN; and a sister, Mildred Lister of Greer, SC. She was predeceased by sisters, Nettie Burnette, Maude Brannon, and Helen Howell, all of Greer, SC. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, in the Chapel, conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Scott Linnerud. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 577 North Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family would also like to extend special thanks to employees of Wesley Court Assisted Living and Agape Hospice for their compassion and care. The families are at their respective homes.
