Betty Blair Still died Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, Spartanburg, SC. Born in Jonesville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Francis Souter Blair and Elizabeth McWhirter Blair. Mrs. Still graduated from Stephens College, pledged Tri-Delta at USC and graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University. A member of First Presbyterian Church, she served on the Purnell Committee, taught Sunday School, worked on the Flower Committee, and was an ever-faithful member of the Prayer Chain. Other activities included her work for the American Red Cross, secretarial work in the medical community, service in the Spartanburg Junior League, the Colonial Dames, the Fruit and Flower Gardeners, the Spartanburg Debutante Club, the Bookends Book Club, her bridge club, and board member of the Georgia Cleveland Home. God granted her many blessings in her long life. She loved her family, her friends and her dogs (and everybody else's). Traveling, growing roses and laughing were some of her life's joys. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, W. Leonard Still of Spartanburg; son, William Leonard Still, Jr. of Spartanburg; daughters, Betsy Still Smith of Hendersonville, NC, and Susan Still Johnson and husband Allen H. Johnson, Jr. of Marietta, GA; grandson, Robert Harvin Smith, Jr.; granddaughters, Blair Still Sarbacker and husband Lloyd Sarbacker, and Jenny Still Burton and husband Jason Burton; and two great-grandsons, Lloyd and Lee. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 12, 2012, in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Ansley Belcher Page and the Rev. Dr. William L. Arthur. The family will receive friends after the service in the parlor.
