Elizabeth Petty

Elizabeth Belk Petty, 77, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, July 20, 2015, at her home after a long battle with cancer. Born June 8, 1938, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Dock Glenn Belk and Nola Horn Belk. Mrs. Petty loved her children, grandchildren, and home at Lake Bowen. She also enjoyed cooking and traveling. A graduate of Spartanburg Regional School of Nursing, she was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, a member of Spartanburg Little General Club, and retired from Interim Health Care. Surviving are her loving husband of 55 years, William Robert "Bob" Petty; sons, Alan Carlton Petty (Karon) and Warren Keith Petty, all of Huntersville, NC, and William Robert "Bob" Petty, Jr. (Angella) of Maryville, TN; grandchildren, John, Elizabeth, Drew, Ben, Alec, and Collin; and brother, Jack Belk of Boiling Springs, SC. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, James Belk. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Wayne Smith. Visitation will follow the chapel service. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 213 N. Lanford Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29301.
