Elizabeth Stephens Jack, 90, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Wesley Court Assisted Living. Born June 10, 1927 in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Alfred E. Stephens and Minnie Hammett Stephens and wife of the late James Ward Jack. Mrs. Jack was a 1947 graduate of Spartanburg General Hospital Training School of Nurses, she received her BA in 1961 from Furman University and her Masters of Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1966. She was retired after 30 years of service as the Director of the Spartanburg County Health Department and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church now Hub City Church. Lib's joy was found in the love of her life, "J. Ward", her faith and family, and sitting on the sixteenth hole at The Master's for over 50 years. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Gwendolyn S. Stephens; nieces and nephews, Robin Martin, Charles Stephens, Wanda Sizemore, Claudia Grimm, and Jill Saleeby. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers, Howard Stephens and Russell Stephens; sisters, Jeanette McKinney and Ruby Wood and niece and nephews, Judy Brian, Ricky McKinney and Joseph (Jody) McKinney. Graveside services will be 3:30 PM Friday, August 4, 2017, in Oak Grove Cemetery, 350 N. Blackstock Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29301, conducted by the Rev. Rufus Chaneyworth. Visitation will follow in the church Fellowship Hall.
