Elizabeth Howell

Elizabeth Anne Weedon Howell, widow of Calvert Manning Howell, Sr. (Buddy), 95, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Windsor House-Spartanburg. Born January 8, 1923, in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Fanning Hamilton and Emmie Sams Webster Weedon. A graduate of Spartanburg High School and Winthrop College, Mrs. Howell also received a Master of Arts in Teaching from Converse College. She taught in District 6 and 7 schools for 30 years and after retirement was associated with Garner's Natural Foods for 23 years. Surviving are two sons, Dr. Gregg Weedon Howell and Fanning Lee Howell, both of Spartanburg, SC; two grandsons, Grant Hamilton Howell and Mills Hunter Howell both of Charlotte, NC; a great-grandson, Gryphon Manning Howell; and great-granddaughter, Ava Lee Ray. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Julie Howell; and her eldest son, C. Manning Howell Jr. No services will be conducted. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29303; Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or to a charity of one's choice.
