Elizabeth "Lib" Whiting Hatchette, 92, of Spartanburg, SC, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at White Oak Estates. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" Denny Hatchette, Sr.; parents, Pearl Towe Whiting and George Henry Whiting of Pacolet Mills; sisters, Mae Bell Fowler and Geneva Lee; brothers, Woodrow Whiting and Leroy Whiting. Mrs. Hatchette taught Sunday School for 25 years at Montgomery Memorial United Methodist Church in Pacolet Mills, where she was a member. She is known for her outstanding sewing talent and was self-employed for 40 years in the window treatment business. Prior to owning her own business, she worked for Vogel Interiors and Sears, custom window treatment department. Survivors are her daughters, Sheryl Jennings Kurowsky, of Leonardtown, MD; Myra Jennings (Larry) Watson, of Cross Hill, SC; son, William "Denny" (Rhonda) Hatchette, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC. She was the grandmother of six: Hunter Hatchette, Todd Hood, Paul "Dee" Hood, Jason Watson, Justin Watson, and Larrah Watson Quarles. She was also the great-grandmother of five: Caden Hood, Julia Hood, Maelie Quarles, Finnian Watson, and Savannah Watson. A graveside service will be conducted at 12:00 PM Monday, July 14, 2014 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Keith Davis and the Rev. Chad Bowen. Visitation will follow at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302 or online at www.alz.org or SRMC Hospice Special Needs Fund, 1200 Heywood Avenue, Suite 300, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
