Elizabeth Wells Coggins, 79, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.  Born in Spartanburg on June 14, 1943, she was the youngest child of the late Dr. Clyde Otamus Wells, Sr. and Carrie Allene Chapman, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Elizabeth grew up in Converse Heights and was a Spartanburg High School graduate of the Class of 1961. Lovingly known to her grandchildren as Gammy, Elizabeth delighted in her friends and family. She was a member of Cedar Spring Baptist Church in Spartanburg.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Sandra McNulty, Carla Bedenbaugh, Robert Goodwin (Margaret), Hank Coggins (Jackie), Jeffrey Goodwin (Michele), and Missy Powell (Tim); grandchildren, Jason McNulty (Donna), James McNulty, Alicia Jordan (Shane), Mason Smith, Jonah Bedenbaugh, Maggie Bedenbaugh, Christie Simpson (Danny), Houston Goodwin (Chelsea), Nick Krolczyk (Kate), Sadie Tucker (Cayne), Perris Goodwin, Sawyer Goodwin, Robby Friend (Brittney), Jessica Bennett, Michael Bennett, Magon Harris, Zoë Goodwin, Tyler Powell (Caitlin), Taylor Hunke (Jacob), and Hailey Powell; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Wells, and Elizabeth’s Wells family nieces and nephews who were all very special to her, and some of whom affectionately called her Dibba.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Henry Coggins in 2009; her siblings (and their spouses) Allene Williamson (Joe), Clyde Wells (Margaret), Joe Wells (Helen), and Carolyn Davison (Meredith); and her great-grandson Baby Joshua Carroll.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Cedar Spring Baptist Church, 140 Cedar Springs Place, Spartanburg SC, 29302, with Rev. Dr. M. Todd Lowe officiating.
