Elise Christine Junge Tienken, 79, known as Oma to all that loved her, of Boiling Springs, SC, died Monday, October 31, 2016, at her home. Born February 26, 1937, in Nieblum, Germany on the island of Föhr, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Ellie Junge. Mrs. Tienken immigrated to New York City at the age of 18, where she met and married her husband of 55 years, Ludwig Tienken. She was a resident of Southington, Connecticut for 21 years before moving to South Carolina in 1994. Mrs. Tienken was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Ladies Circle Group Number 2. She was a longtime employee of BMW Food Services retiring in 2012. In addition to her husband, Ludwig, surviving are her three daughters and their husbands, Debbie Brennan and her husband Dan, Kirsten Little and her husband Kelly, and Denise Luczak and her husband Scott; her eight beloved grandchildren, Caroline, Drake, Courtney, Ryan, Tyler, Kendall, Kayla, and Kendra. She is also survived by five siblings residing in Germany and the Canary Islands. The family would like to thank Spartanburg Regional Hospice and Hospice Compassus for the care and support given to Oma and her family and express deep gratitude to her caregivers Leslie, Bria, Beth and Celia. The family will host a service to honor her memory at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 3, 2016, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 415 S. Pine St., Spartanburg, SC 29302. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus Foundation, 1923 East Main Street Suite C, Duncan, SC 29334.
