Eleanor Lawhon Taylor, 95, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, April 28, 2011 at White Oak Estates. Born June 29, 1915, in Florence, SC, and reared in Union County, she was the daughter of the late Laurie Samuel and Olivette Smith Lawhon and wife of the late Paul Little Taylor. Mrs. Taylor was a graduate of Winthrop College. She taught at Wardlaw Junior High School in Columbia and retired from Spartanburg High School in 1981. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg for 68 years where she was a member of the Hope Sunday School Class, a member of the Women's Missionary Union and former director of the Women's Missionary Union Young People's Groups, and the Young-at-Heart. Eleanor was also a member of the South Carolina Society of Mayflower Descendents. Survivors include a brother, Harold Legare Lawhon of Union, SC; four nephews, Cameron W. Lee, Jr. of Raleigh, NC, Richard W. Lee of Myrtle Beach, SC, David L. Lee of Salisbury, NC, and Edwin J. Lee of Wake Forest, NC. She was predeceased by sister, Helen Lawhon Lee. Visitation will be 1:30-2:30 PM Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Robert C. Morgan.
