Eleanor Ledbetter

Eleanor Jones Ledbetter, 91, of Spartanburg, died Monday, January 25, 2010, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born October 15, 1918, in Watertown, MA, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Grace Travers Jones and the wife of the late James P. Ledbetter, Jr. She was a graduate of Boston University and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Forenoon Garden Club. Survivors include a son, William Jones "Bill" Ledbetter and his wife Beth of Spartanburg; two daughters, Ann Ledbetter, and Jane Ledbetter East and her husband Billy Ray, all of Columbia; a special niece, Susan Coyle; seven grandchildren, Jay Ledbetter and wife Amanda, John David Ledbetter, Joe Ledbetter, Luke Ledbetter, H. Paul Elias, Jr. and wife Amy, Lynn Elias, and Gregory Elias and wife Kelley; and nine great-grandchildren, Ellie Ledbetter, Ian Ledbetter, Paul Elias, Brooke Elias, Zachary Elias, Erin Monfils, Chloe Elias, Sophie Elias, and Landen Elias. She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Caldwell. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, January 28, 2010, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Charles H. Horne. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with a reception following in the Church Social Hall. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the James P. Ledbetter, Jr. Scholarship Fund, c/o Spartanburg Community College, P. O. Box 4386, Spartanburg, SC 29305.
