Elbert Lacon Ryan III, 77, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at his home. Born July 31, 1944, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Elbert Lacon Ryan Jr. and Amelia Victoria Miller Ryan.
Mr. Ryan attended Spartanburg Technical College and Clemson University. A 10-year veteran of the US Navy and later retired as M/SGT from the US Army, Lacon was also retired from Mayfair Mills after 31 years of service as an IT Director. Following his retirement, Lacon was employed with The J. F. Floyd Mortuary and The Home Depot – East Spartanburg.
Lacon was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and a member of Croft Ruritan Club.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Barbara Jackson Ryan, his son, Elbert Lacon Ryan IV, of Spartanburg, SC, his daughter, Leigh Ryan Lamb (Buddy Millwood) of Woodruff, SC, two grandchildren, Savanna Ryan and Sara Ryan, and one great grandson, Weston Ryan, his sisters, Myra Taylor of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Harriett Ryan of Spartanburg, SC, and his brother, Col. Mike Ryan (Jill) of Tampa, FL. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Joseph Ryan.
Cryptside service, with Military Honors, will be at 3:00 pm Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Andy Case. Visitation following the service.
