Edwin C. "Micky" Marotte, 90, of 1705 Skylyn Drive, died Friday, July 24, 2009, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born April 2, 1919, in Orwigsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Floyd Karper and Elizabeth Campbell Marotte. A graduate of Dickinson College and the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, PA, he was Regional Administrative Manager for Alcoa in Atlanta, GA, for 17 years, and later a Senior Campaign Director for Ketchum, Inc., fund-raising counsel. A U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, he served 26 months as an officer in the Southwest Pacific Islands. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, Sons of the American Revolution, the Huguenot Society, Royal Order of the Crown of Charlemagne, and an Able Toastmaster. He was president of the Board of Directors of the Council on Aging, an active volunteer with Mobile Meals and Total Ministries, local coordinator for the AARP Elderly Tax Counseling unit, and a poll manager. He was a sports fan, a lover of classical music, an avid reader, and a humorist to the end. His philosophy of life was "Be a Man". In other words, step up and do what has to be done to the best of your ability. He was a great believer in giving back to the community; and as long as he was able, he did just that, giving of himself, his time, and money to many causes. Survivors include his wife, Lillian Brinson Marotte; a daughter, Dr. Kay Means of Coral Springs, FL; a son, David S. Marotte, Esq., of Marietta, GA; a sister, Mrs. James Stripe of Orwigsburg, PA; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
