Edward Leon Toney, 78, of Inman, SC died Friday, January 20, 2023. Born November 9, 1944 in Spartanburg, SC, he was a son of the late Robert Lee Toney, Jr. and Sarah Frances Lanford Toney.
Edward was a long time employee of Green Industries in Detroit, MI and later with Mitchell and Scott in Indianapolis, IN, serving as a tool and dye maker. He returned to live in Inman, SC in 2009. Edward was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the U. S. Navy, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his brother, Harold Lee Toney of Boiling Springs, SC; and ten nieces and nephews. Edward is predeceased by his wife, Carol Joyce Pomerville Toney; and siblings, Melvin L. Toney, James W. Toney and Kathryne Rebecca Toney Gentry.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Tommy Hill. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
