Edward Szustak

December 3, 1934 — March 4, 2015

Edward John Szustak, 80, of Boiling Springs, SC, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born December 3, 1934, in Batavia, NY, he was the son of the late John A. and Mary Regina Bialkowski Szustak, and husband of the late Barbara F. Pinkowski Szustak. A veteran of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mr. Szustak retired from Amoco Corp/BP. He was a graduate of Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY and received his MBA from Shenandoah University, Winchester, VA. He was also a member and sacristan of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus #6076. Surviving are his children, Lisa Norris (James) of Arlington, VA, and David Szustak (Myra) of Spartanburg, SC; five grandchildren, Thomas, Robert, and Claire Norris, Bailey and Carley Szustak, and; brothers, Leonard Szustak of Nichols, CT, and Arthur Szustak (Meredith) of Cleveland, TN; and sister, Frances S. Lemmon (Joe) of Cleveland, TN. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Carol Szustak. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, March 9, 2015, with the Rosary beginning at 7:30 PM, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at the Historic St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 161 N. Dean St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, by the Rev. Timothy M. Gahan. Private entombment will be at a later date in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Building Fund, 161 North Dean Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or Wegners Granulomyatosis Association/Vasculitis Foundation, PO Box 28660, Kansas City, MO 64188 online at www.vasculitisfoundation.org/donate/.
